Curriculum Overview
Math
Whole Living Academy’s Math program covers the core topics for each grade level while challenging students to a deeper level of understanding through mental math strategies, word problems, fun activities, online games, and regular practice. Students will also gain knowledge of the growth mindset, African history of mathematics, and historical figures important to the subject. In addition, our instructors intersperse financial literacy and real world math into each unit.

Science
Our Science program interweaves multiple sciences into each grade level - Earth Science, Life Science, and Physical Science for our elementary groups and Biology, Botany, Chemistry, and Physics for our middle school groups. Students will gain the fundamentals while being challenged with critical thinking activities, scientific inquiry projects, and home experiments. English Language Arts (ELA)
In our English Language Arts program, younger groups will focus on phonics, reading, reading comprehension, grammar, vocabulary, handwriting, spelling, public speaking, and composition while upper elementary and middle school students will focus on literary comprehension and analysis, grammar, vocabulary, spelling, public speaking, and composition. All students will read from fiction works of the African diaspora (stories, novels, folktales), non-fiction works of the African diaspora (essays, narratives, speeches), and multi-cultural fiction and non-fiction works of the world. Our goal in ELA is to introduce students to great literary texts while cultivating them into all-star readers, writers, and thinkers.
